Upcycled Denim In Car Trash Bag

How was your mother's day?  

Mine was ok, just a bunch of housework, yardwork, organizing, and gardening, while the Mister took naps.  HAHA

I did, however, hang out with a friend's mom last weekend.  She has been a mom away from mom for me, since my own mother is more than 8000 miles away.

I have already made her a Duffle Bag, Shoe Bags, Travel First Aid Case, Receipts Pocket for Notebook/Binder, Valentine's Day gifts, Denim Tote, Kitchen Accessories, so WHAT ELSE TO MAKE for her?  She works two jobs and they are both far away from home, so she basically lives in her car.  So I knew I had to make her something for her car.  A Trash Bag!

Upcycled Denim Purse

My mom is not a big purse lady, she prefers small, light weight purses.  I have made a handbag for her before, but the fabric is too casual for her to carry to a more serious gathering.

So I decided to make her a fancier but not too fancy purse.

Upcycled Denim Apron

Mother's day is around the corner, and I have been a busy bee all week making gifts for my mom.  After a few late late nights, I finally got everything made and shipped them off to mom.  I will post each gift with tutorial throughout this week, so do keep checking in for easy projects to make.

Today, I am going to show you how I made this easy apron made from a denim shirt.   This apron is light and simple, for those moms that love to cook, this will be perfect!

Upcycled Denim Tote

How is everyone doing with their Mother's Day gifts?  Did you buy or did you make?  

I was thinking to myself "what would mom love?"  Well, I KNOW for a fact that a tote bag is ALWAYS a good choice for moms, and since all my upcycled totes have been so well received, I knew I have to make one for my mom.

Upcycled Denim Pocket Pouch

Do you have some old jeans lying round?  Or do you have some old jeans torn up so badly but the pockets are still good?  If so, maybe you can consider cutting out the pockets and making them into something cool.

I have a pair of my favorite jeans (and I really meant favorite because I wore that pair so much that it is just torn to pieces, nothing else is salvageable except for the back pockets) that I wanted to turn into something useful. I thought I could make the back pockets into a little pouch.  Then I thought I could embroider it and make a little pouch for my mom.

Since my first First Aid Case was such a success, I decided to make a few more.  This is a second one that I tackled, tweaking it a bit.

Upcycled Denim Receipts Pocket

After the first gift that I made for my dear friend's birthday, I made a second gift  - a receipts pocket for her 3-ring binder that she uses to do her books with.  

I saw a similar project over at Bolt Neighborhood, but it is a much smaller size and made differently, so I altered it a bit to fit my needs.

Upcycled Denim Embroidered Coasters/Patches

Our 50 year old kitchen was being remodeled and during that time, i had grown to know and love my contractors, so i decided to make them a little something to thank them for their great company and work!

The finished coasters, aren't they just cute?! 

 Using some denim remnants from a pair of jeans for their names

 

 The other side is a fabric with Hong Kong on it (where i am from)

I dug around and found some remnants and thought to myself  "uh... what can i make with these?" Well i came up with a few useful things to make for my friend.

Upcycled Denim Tablet Case

When my parents came to visit me in May, they gave me their ViewSonic tablet that my dad got as a retirement gift from his colleagues. But they didn't have a case for it, so i decided i would make a nice case to put this treasured piece in.

I am using some old jeans my hubby doesn't wear anymore, and it happened to be Calvin Klein, so it's even better hahaha 

I already had the jeans cut up before for another project, so i am using what's left

i cut the right side of the top of the jeans

Upcycled Levi's Denim Dog Shirt

I used an old Levi's shirt to make a shirt for my dog! LOL

Upcycled Denim Tote

A friend's birthday was coming up and I wanted to make her a tote bag that she could carry all of her binders in (in style too) :)

I had some old jeans lying around so I thought I could upcycle them!

This is how it turned out

Upcycled Denim Cherry Bag

Since we have alot of unwanted jeans, i decided to make a bag for myself. But with only denim, i thought it would be a little boring, so i am also using a cute Cherries fabric

This is the finished product

First i measured and drew out the strips

 then cut them all out

then onto cutting the strips on the cherries fabric, and sewed them together

Made the lining

sewing the front and back denim pieces right side together

making a pocket for my cell phone

using the cherries fabric to bind the pocket

pocket sewn onto the lining

using the cherries fabric to bind the opening of the bag, with the lining.

 done

A little details

strap is made

using fleece, i am making magnetic cherries

Upcycled Denim Belts Organizer

I used a whole pair of jeans for this project.  I simple sewed lines across both legs to make pockets, and used the denim yellowish thread to make the pockets look prettier. 

This is great for belts, ties, or socks

Upcycled Denim Wallets

This is the first time i ever made wallets, i am using unwanted jeans for these

I lined mine with hello kitty fabric! 

I used the zipper off the jeans and made a coin section
