This is a part two of a WIP I started last year. Read the first half here: WIP Upcycled Military Uniform Purse {Part 1}
I finally got it finished and shipped.
Let's get to the tutorial
The purse was half done like this.
Then I prepared the lining. Fold it in half, right sides together and sew the left and right sides
Boxed corners
Inside view of the boxed corners
Then prepare zipper, two long fabric pieces for the recessed zipper, two small fabric pieces for the start and end of zipper
Press the long pieces
Put lining inside the outer bag, wrong sides together, sew the bag opening (bottom half) and lining together
Fold the bag opening (top half) under, pin and top stitch
Pin and Sew the recess zipper fabric piece onto the bag opening, on the inside.
Prepare strap. I used an old belt.
Cut the buckle, leaving the raw edges like this
sew them onto both sides of the bag
Finish sewing zipper onto the recessed zipper fabric pieces
Done

You are so talented, it amazes me what you can sew.

Wow, this is an amazing upcycle!! That zipper looks challenging. I've done zippers but this one looks like it's in a tight spot.
ReplyDeleteI love the addition of the belt for the strap!
